John and I have serving pieces and place settings accumulated over the years of our marriage.  We have the first dishes that we purchased together (a white pottery with a scalloped edging) and various pieces from different sets that we purchased or were given to us over the years.  I treasure them all, mostly for the memories associated with them, and what stage of our lives we were in at the time that we acquired them.

We do have ‘sets’ of dishes. But we also have single pieces, pairs, or a few pieces.  The same can be said for in the Shop.  There are sets, single pieces, pairs, or a few pieces for sale.  Some are Antiques, some are Vintage, and some are newer.  Some are floral, a single color, a whimsical pattern, or a specialty piece.

Two well-loved marked Floral Soup or Serving Bowls

The two bowls pictured above are technically soup bowls.  We often use this size though for serving vegetables or fruit at meals.  They are not too big for a single bag of frozen veggies or too small for when family is over to visit and we need to put a heaping bowl of something on the table.  These are marked and old.  The inside finish is crackled with age. The gold edging on the border is worn down. And there may be a small nick on the back.  But they are pretty, useful, give instant age to a serving table – it was someone’s family piece, and now it is yours; and subscribe to our Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Repurpose. philosophy.

We also have glass bowls, serving platters, serving tureens, dessert dishes and full sets of dishes. Whether you are adding a new piece or looking for a starter set or additions to a family pattern, think about utilizing previously well-loved finds.  There is a place and time for fancy “formal” place settings and full sets of dishes.  But there is also a place and time for that extra bowl to remind you of a delightful day out shopping, or of a similar piece to one that your Gramma had when you were little.  My father remembered a special sugar bowl that was his Grandmother’s. We often have people pick up a piece and say to their sister, or husband:  ‘remember this pattern?’

Whether it is your first place or you have lots of dishes for entertaining, don’t forget those conversation pieces that add a warm family feeling to your home.

Elizabeth or I will add a direct link to photos of some of the items available in the Shop.  We are working on labeling the photos with the Item number, description, and price information.  In the meantime, you can go to her site: www.ImagesnMemories.com >> choose “Galleries” >> choose  “Morgan Lane Enterprises” and there are a few different Galleries of pieces in the Shop.  We will be adding lots of never before seen pieces in December.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Repurpose.        Shop Local.

Gift certificates always available, for Hostess gifts, birthday, shower, wedding, holiday, or any occassion presents.  Never expire. Never reduce in value.

Open Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00am – 4:00pm.  Closed major holidays.

Take a family photo with our giant Quilt block.    Happy Thanksgiving.

Valentine’s Day has come and gone for another year; and St. Patrick’s Day is up to bat as the next “colorful” holiday.

Yes, Washington’s Birthday is still in the mix.  But other than red for Cherry pie, his birthday is not too colorful.  There is a antique/vintage red hat in the “Harriet’s Hats” collection that is decorated with cherries.  Come try it on, and have Elizabeth take your picture, your camera or hers.  You don’t even have to be a member of a ‘Red Hat Club’ to pose in this beauty.  The hat is available for: $35.00

Back to “Thinking Green”: We have a very lovely set of  Green Colonial Homestead China.  Utilizing antique and vintage dishware saves money on buying a set of dishes, and gives some “heritage” feeling to the dinner table.  Antique and vintage sets of dishes are routinely priced considerably less than comparable sets of new.

We also have some really nice pieces of green pottery planters.  You can, naturally, put a green plant in your planter…we have lots of organically raised plants in the greenhouse on site. Or, the planters can be usefully repurposed as desk organizers, or bedroom dresser or bathroom organizers.

Between now and St. Patrick’s Day, anything predominantly green in color will be 25% off in the Shop.

I have some REALLY BIG boxes of dishware to finish sorting through this month.  John and Michael brought the remainder of a storage unit of my family things back to the farm.  I have about a box a day to go through for awhile! Look for new items being brought in to the Shop.

Also, if you’ve been waiting to buy something that you’ve seen in the Shop, don’t wait.  Someone was very disappointed last week that some pieces were sold.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Repurpose.

This week is the U S Route 411 Yard Sale. Several people have already set up their tables along the highway. Friends of ours, the Hardens, who sell fancy glass like Fenton and cast iron items, such as Griswold and Wagner, have tables set up at the RV park near the corner of 163 (the Bowater Road). We will have some items with them.
We will also have a SALE in the Antique Shop to go along with the Yard Sale nearby. We are about 3 miles off of Route 411.

We are also having the FINAL WEEK of our Autumn Plant Sale at the greenhouse. We have houseplants, hanging baskets, shrubs, culinary herbs and pepper plants on sale.

All items in the Antique Shop will be ON SALE.

We have some really nice glass and china items, which would be unique, unusual accents for home décor. Some really special lighters are in the shop. We’ll have some new to the Shop vintage  jewelry from ancestors’ jewelry boxes this week too!

You can see many of our available items at the Shop’s Gallery on www.ImagesnMemories.com, Elizabeth’s photography site; and from the link tab on our Home Page.

We will be happy to answer questions about height, width, maker’s marks, etc. Email: DenmanFam@aol.com
Pacifica products: Perfumes, candle, soaps and body butters: will be on sale at 10% off. We have autumn scents, tropicals, florals, and herbs, long-lasting for women and men. The candles are clean burning and all natural.

There are also Fall Festivals in Benton and Etowah this weekend, which are both near to our farm.  Also, there is an Open Horse Show in Englewood, on Route 411, which we are also supporting.  We have a block on the Appalachian Quilt Trail, and there is a quilt show as part of the Benton Festival, and the Polk County News has a new quilt block on the Trail.  We have lots of informative brochures available for local food sources, and sight-seeing in East Tennessee.

Besides the over-all SALE, we will also have DAILY SPECIALS. Keep checking. I promise I will write more about what is in the Shop.

Antiques are a special, exciting way to reduce, reuse, recycle and repurpose.

We have several brochures for local attractions in the Shop.

Besides our own new version of our rack cards for the Greenhouse, Antique Shop, and Morgan Horses, we also have a new brochure for the Appalachian Quilt Trail.

The Appalachian Quilt Trail highlights quilt squares mounted on barns and businesses throughout Eastern Tennessee. We have a very large 8 foot square Open Box pattern Quilt square by the Shop.  There is a new square mounted in Polk County at the Polk County News building.  We can be included in many different versions of day trips to see various quilt squares.  We can take your family photo with the quilt square using your camera or ours.

We also have free booklets for the TasteBuds Guide to the Greater Chattanooga area.  It lists pick your own farms, Farmers Markets, Farms with Farmstands, and other good food sources!  We have free magnets that explain what produce is in season and bumper stickers to support TasteBuds mission.

We are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am – 4pm.  The brochures are available in the Shop.

We’ve had quite a few visitors to the Shop, and Farm recently. Today, we had some ladies from throughout Tennessee, come as part of a get-together. They shopped in the shop and in the greenhouse.
We also had some visitors come from quite a few counties away, to take a picture of our Appalachian quilt square. The square is becoming a favorite spot here in Southeast Tennessee. People take Appalachian Quilt Trail tours (AQT) or they come from our surrounding counties, to get their picture taken in front of the square. It makes a nice background for a multi-generation photo, or a seasonal family ‘growth’ photo. You can get a tour brochure here at the farm, or go to www.vacationaqt.com for more information.
And, our irises are close to full bloom at the moment. The daffodils were gorgeous this Spring. But not much compares to our irises. We have waves of the same variety, and clusters of various colors and sizes. Lots of the culinary herbs are putting on a first Spring show of color too. The catmint, bronze fennel, salad burnet, and Spanish Eyes Lavenders are just a few of the herbs showing off at the moment.
We have some nice old inexpensive vases in the Shop; and we can cut you bouquets to go with your vases.
